About this single: ‘Moon Echoes in Blue’ is a track performed entirely on a Thomann 70cm wind gong. The title refers to the ‘Moon’ mallet (handmade by Epic Mallets), alongside the blue ‘Echoes’ (gong gadgets, also handmade by Epic Mallets). The blue ‘Echoes’ are suspended from the gong stand, and they bounce off the surface of the gong, creating higher harmonic echoes. The pair of blue ‘Echoes’ can be seen in the artwork. The gong is also played by ‘Epic Flumies’ (friction mallets, again handmade by Epic Mallets), to make the gong sing.
