Research & Teaching

I am a practice-based based researcher and my work combines music-making with spirituality (in particular shamanism and mantra). For my practice-based PhD, I combined my music-making practice with my practice of shamanic journeying and I documented my experiences in journeying to my music. My thesis title was Golden Sunset, Blue Rain: The Shamanic Journeys. A Practice-Based Investigation into ‘Spiritual Musicking’ and Its Creative Music-Making Realisations. I have presented and performed at numerous academic conferences. To see a list of my conference paper presentations and performances, click here.

I have been teaching for over a decade and I am qualified as an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).

My teaching experience includes lecturing in Higher Education (HE), as well as teaching community groups and presenting online classes and workshops.
