University Teaching

HE Lecturer: Music & Music Technology

I taught undergraduate Music and Music Technology students at Coventry University from 2010 to 2022. During this time I was a Year Tutor, as well as a Module Leader and the Choirmaster for the department. In 2015 and 2017, I helped to redesign modules as part of the re-validation process.

I taught and assessed a wide variety of undergraduate student work from 40+ modules over twelve years. These included: dissertations, composition portfolios, digital music production portfolios, ensemble and solo performances, collaborative final projects, PDP portfolios, music theory papers, analysis essays, and a range of presentations.

I also worked internationally, assessing the dissertations and research presentations for the top-up BSc Music Technology degree course at the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), Hong Kong, awarded by Coventry University.

As part of my role at Coventry University, I took students on field trips, both locally (Birmingham Symphony Hall) and internationally (New York, USA).

HE Guest Lecturer: MSc Mindfulness & Compassion

In February 2020, I was a Guest Lecturer for the MSc degree in Mindfulness and Compassion at Coventry University. I delivered specialist participatory workshops on mantra, music, and sound to postgraduate students. The sessions included:

• Understanding the power of sound in relation to the origin of the Universe.

• The effects of sound and music on the human body.

• Using sound to facilitate healing.

• Vocal warm-ups.

• Vocal toning the Chakras.

• Chanting healing Sanskrit mantras.
