What is sound & mantra therapy?

Since time immemorial, sound has been used in spiritual practices and healing rituals the world over as a vehicle to alter our state of consciousness, and to allow us to connect with our spirit guides through meditation and inner journeying.

An analogy that many people use is that we are made up of energy vibrations based around the chakras. When we experience difficulties in life, some believe that our chakras have become blocked, causing us to experience physical and emotional health issues. Sound therapy (sometimes called sound healing) can help to unblock the chakras and improve our general wellbeing, calming the body, mind, and spirit. Therapeutic sound stimulates the body’s natural production of nitric oxide which helps to boost our immune system, similar to when we exercise, promoting self-healing. It can also help to slow down breathing and the heartbeat, improving sleep patterns, as well as reducing levels of stress and anxiety.

Mantras, when chanted with intention, can manifest positive physical and mental changes in our lives. When combined with instruments, the effects become even more powerful.

What is a sound bath?

During a sound bath (group or individual) you sit or lie down in a comfortable position on a yoga mat fully clothed and with your eyes closed. I then guide you into a relaxed, meditative state before creating different sounds and frequencies in succession by playing a variety of overtone-emitting instruments such as Himalayan singing bowls, shamanic frame drums, shruti box, and various smaller percussion instruments, such as rattles, rainsticks, and Koshi wind chimes. I also use my voice to chant healing Sanskrit mantras, I AM affirmations and power songs. The sounds have a hypnotic effect on the brain, slowing down brainwaves and inducing a deeper state of relaxation, ideal for meditation and healing. At the end of the sound bath, you will feel refreshed, revitalised, restored, and full of positive energy.

An individual sound bath is especially beneficial if you have a specific problem either physical or emotional and it is tailored to meet your needs. The different frequencies of sound healing instruments affect the chakras, different organs, emotions and illnesses. During an individual sound bath, Himalayan singing bowls will be placed on and around you, directing the healing energy to any problem areas within your body.

Each person will experience a sound bath differently and will be taken on their own personal healing journey. You will be invited to share any of your experiences at the end of the session should you wish to do so.

My upcoming group sound baths can be found here.

What can a sound bath help you with?

A sound bath induces a state of deep relaxation, so it is ideal as a complementary/alternative treatment for stress, depression, anxiety, and anger, as well as conditions such as fibromyalgia, ME, MS, ADHD, insomnia, poor blood circulation, headaches, cramps, and more. It can also be used effectively alongside conventional medicine.

Please note that I operate as a holistic, complementary, and alternative therapist. As such, I do NOT claim to cure you or to diagnose any medical condition in the same regard as a GP.

What treatments do I offer?

I offer individual treatments (either face-to-face or online), group sound baths, and group mantra chanting sessions. I also offer a corporate events service.
